Nocturnal movement of Army choppers Irk people In Bandipora

Locals from Sumbal Bandipora Saturday alleged that continuous nocturnal movement of choppers and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) at 3 Sector Headquarters of Indian Army located at Mansbal are giving them sleepless nights while the noise pollution during night hours have become nuisance for them.

A delegation from different hamlets of Sumbal Bandipora including Nesbal, Naninara, Zazoona, Ahan, Wangipora, Cheva, Safapora and Inderkoot told CNS that people especially babies are unable to sleep due to continuous chopper and UAV movement at 3 Sector aerodrome. “As the night approaches, the movement of choppers starts in the Sector. The deafening sound gives sleepless nights to the people. This is the routine in the Sector,” they said.

“The area is peaceful and there is no movement of militants. The chopper movement during the night hours on daily basis surprises them,” the delegation said.

When contacted a top Army official from Sector 3 told CNS that due to their alertness, people in the area are able to sleep without fear. “Choppers move during the night to track down the movement of militants. It is a kind of security drill that has been going on for a long time in the Sector,” he said. (CNS)
