Demands Of NHM Employees Genuine: MoS Health

Srinagar, Mar 06 —– Terming the demands of National Health Mission (NHM) employees who are currently on strike from past six days as ‘genuine’, Minister of State for Health, Asiea Naqash on Monday said that the demands of protesting employees will be comprehensively discussed.
Talking to KNS, Asiea Naqash said, “I believe that the demands of protesting NHM employees are genuine and their demands will be fulfilled after comprehensive discussion with the health ministry.”

She said that she has already discussed the issue with the health ministry and other officials. “It will take time to fulfill the genuine demands of NHM employees. I have discussed the matter even with the health ministry and I will once again talk to them in this regard. Until the issue won’t be discussed, there is no possibility of fulfillment of demands,” she added.

Naqash said, “The protest of the NHM employees has been registered and I think they should join their duties again now as their absence from the hospitals has resulted in the hardships to the patients.”

She said that after resuming their duties, the representatives of the employees should come and meet them in Jammu. “I would like to talk with them also in this regard. We assure them we will try our best for them,” she added.
MoS health further said that the NHM employees had met her in the past. “The NHM employees had approached me in the past. The procedure we started for the fulfillment of their demands got stopped due to 2016 unrest as the government focused on normalizing the situation here. We will once again start the process of fulfilling their demands,” she added.

Notably, the NHM employees are on strike from Mar 01. They have pegged the temporary tent inside the Srinagar’s Press Enclave to press the government over their demands.
The NHM employees had planned to stage 72-hour-long protest but the protesters extended their protest for further 72-hours. (KNS)
