Govt Orders Closure Of Private Tuitions In Kashmir For 90 Days To Stem Student Protests

SRINAGAR, APRIL 22: Education Minister Syed Altaf Bukhari on Sunday ordered the closure of all private tuition centres in Kashmir valley for three months to break up student protests that have rocked the Valley over the horrific gangrape-and-murder of minor girl in Kathua.

Bukhari, according to Greater Kashmir, made the announcement while chairing a meeting of chief education officers, zonal education officers and principals of higher secondary schools.

“Report should go to the concerned district administration as well. All coaching centres will remain closed for next 90 days,” the minister said, according to the report.

He also asked the director school education Kashmir to submit list of teachers, masters and lecturers who are working in private coaching centres.

The decision, it said, has been taken in view of widespread student protests over the horrific gangrape-and-murder of an eight-year-old nomadic girl in Kathua.
