Shopian Opens After Six Days; Shutdown Continues In Pulwama

SRINAGAR, MAY 12: Normal life was restored in Shopian on Saturday after six successive days of spontaneous shutdown against the civilian and militant killings. However, Pulwama continued to remain shut for the seventh day in a row.

Reports said that shops and other business establishments opened in Shopian town and elsewhere. Public transport also plied.

However, shutdown continued in Pulwama district where a gunfight broke out earlier today in Chinar Bagh Takay Mohalla in Barpora village.

A CRPF trooper was killed in the gunfight while militants, believed to be three in number, managed to escape.
