Special Police Officer Wounded In Pulwama Militant Attack Recovering In Hospital; Leg Amputated

SRINAGAR, MAY 30: A Special police officer (SPO) injured in a militant attack in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district yesterday is recovering in a hospital, though his leg was amputated.

“Aquib is recovering in Hospital though his leg was amputated to save his life. We thank you all for the concern and blood donation which indeed played key role in saving his life,” Jammu and Kashmir Police said on Twitter.

Gunmen fired upon the SPO, Aqib Wagay son of Abdul Ahad Wagay at Puchal village last evening.

In the incident, Wagay, a resident of Panzagam Awantipora, suffered serious bullet wounds and was shifted to the nearby district hospital where from he was referred to Srinagar hospital,” said an official.

“Wagay was shot at by the suspected militants. He was working as an SPO in Awantipora,” said SSP Pulwama Mohammad Aslam Choudary.
