SRINAGAR, MAY 31: Jammu and Kashmir Police has arrested a teacher after a viral video showed him allegedly assaulting a minor student hung upside down at a seminary in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, an official said today.
“Taking cognisance of a video clip circulated on social media wherein an 8-year-old boy is being seen hung upside down and physically assaulted by Molvi of a local Dasrgah, Police Station Baramulla has registered a Case FIR NO 86/2018 under sections of 342, 323 RPC and 24 Juvenile justice Act 2013,” he said.
The official said the accused teacher, identified as Molvi Mushtaq Ahmed Dar, resident of Batpora Tangmarg, presently residing at Iqbal Colony Baramulla, has been arrested by the police.
“Further investigation into the matter is going on,” he said.
The video had gone viral on social media with netizens demanding strict action against the accused.
