SRINAGAR, JUNE 22: Clashes erupted near the gunfight site at Srigufwara area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday, reports said.
Local sources said that protesters pelted stones on the forces to disrupt their operation against the holed up militants and the forces responded by firing tear gas shells and pellets.
Quoting hospital sources, reports said that twenty sustained injuries in forces action who were initially shifted to SDH Bijbehara and PHC Srigufwara.
Earlier the government forces cordoned off the area and started searches after specific information about the presence of militants.
The hiding militants opened fire on search party triggering gunfight.
Gunfights have resumed in Kashmir after a month long unilateral truce was ended by the Government of India some days back.
