Youth Killed, Girl Among Two Injured In Army Firing In Pulwama

SRINAGAR, JUNE 15: A civilian was killed and two suffered injuries after army allegedly opened fire in Nowpora Payeen area of Lassipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

A police officer told GNS that army’s 55 RR patrolling party came under stone pelting in the area. The soldiers opened few shots to disperse the protesters.

In the incident, three civilians including the girl namely Ruqaya Jan daughter of Ghulam Mohammad Magray suffered injuries and have been hospitalized for treatment, he said.

One among the seriously injured youth namely Viqas Ahmad Rather (17) was referred to SMHS Srinagar hospital where doctors declared him brought dead on arrival, sources said.

SSP Pulwama Mohammad Aslam Choudhary also confirmed the death of the youth.

Locals of the area alleged that the troopers raided number of houses including one of militant’ s house which triggered clashes in the village.

“The troops vandalized the property and beat up the residents,” they alleged. (GNS)
