SRINAGAR, JULY 13: Two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel, including an assistant sub-inspector, were killed while another trooper and a civilian were injured after militants attacked a force party at Achabal in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday.
Reports said that the militants fired upon a CRPF party at Achabal. In the attack, three paramilitary troopers and a shopkeeper sustained bullet wounds and were taken to nearby Achabal hospital for treatment where two troopers succumbed.
One of the slain troopers was identified as ASI ML Meena. Another trooper was referred to army’s 92 base hospital in Badamibagh, Srinagar. The injured civilian has been identified as Ghulam Rasool.
“Today, at around 11 am, vehicle-borne militants fired upon CRPF deployement at Achabal.
In the incident, 3 CRPF personnel were injured, one of whom later succumbed to his injuries. One civilian was also injured in the incident.
An FIR into the incident has been registered and investigations taken up,” said a police spokesman.
