SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 18: Authorities have decided to suspend class work at Kashmir University and all colleges and higher secondary schools in Srinagar tomorrow.
An official said the decision has been taken to avoid law and order situation in the varsity.
Massive protests erupted today at the Kashmir University main campus against the killing of student-turned-militant Showkat Bhat in a shootout with the government forces. Bhat was a pharmacy student at the varsity before he took up arms recently.
Separatist groups have called for protests after Friday prayers tomorrow against “growing repression”.
An official of the district administration said class work will remain suspended in all colleges and higher secondary schools of the district tomorrow.
He said schools will remain open across the district.
