While terming the “gruesome and barbaric” murder of a mother and her minor son by VDC “terrorists” in Rajouri district as “extreme of the state terrorism”, Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani called for complete and state wide shutdown on 26 December, Saturday, to protest the “gruesome” incident and to demand disbanding of the “illegal and terrorist” force.
In a statement issued here, Geelani said it is second such incident in a just a week’s time which shows how life threatening situation the Kashmiri innocent civilians are facing and how freely are the communal goons operating in this region.
“This brutal incident has shaken the hearts of all the people and helped us to know the seriousness of the situation that how the government forces are free to kill anybody in Jammu & Kashmir. Despite the open terrorist activities of VDCs, the PDP-BJP government is shielding this terrorist group and is not paying any heed to the public pressure for disbanding them. This force is an armed group of selected criminals and fanatic communal minded people and there are although 196 criminal cases officially registered against its members but there is no FIR registered against the 450 such incidents in which these criminals have committed serious crimes,” he said.
The pro-freedom leader said VDCs were created beyond the control of the state constitution and the state laws and the existence of this “illegal” force has no moral justification today.
Geelani said VDCs were not created out of any real need or requirement but the purpose of its creation was to suppress the Jammu Muslims. “Since the communal parties like BJP and RSS got direct access of the state affairs, they have formally adopted this criminal force and have started patronizing them.”
Reiterating his demand of immediate disbanding of this force, Geelani said if government failed to disband this terrorist force, we will launch a movement in entire Jammu & Kashmir to seek disbanding of this criminal force and a course of action will be formulated with the Muslims of Pir Panjal and Chenab Valley in this regard.
Expressing his sympathy and condolence with the family of the deceased mother-son who were slain in the Rajouri incident, Geelani said: “If I were not under the house detention, I would have myself come to visit the affected families of the Rajouri and would have met the people of this region.”
Appealing for complete and state wide shutdown on 26 December, Saturday to protest the barbaric killings in the Rajouri and for disbanding the VDC “terrorists”, the Hurriyat (G) Chairman said the shutdown is the only option with us to protest against the “state terrorism of India”. (GNS)
