SRINAGAR, SEP 23: A gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday morning.

Reports reaching GNS said that a joint team of army’s 42 RR, SOG and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search operation at Dar Ganaie Gund, Aripal village today in the morning.

A police officer said that the joint team of forces cordoned off the area following specific inputs about the presence of some militants.

As the forces firing some warning shots towards, the militants believed to be two to three in number opened fire on them triggering off an encounter, he said.

When reports last came in the exchange of firing was going on. (GNS)
