Srinagar, Oct 19——–Police on Thursday released a student of Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) who was detained for questioning few days ago.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anantnag, Altaf Ahmad Khan said Junaid Akhoon was released after proper investigation and questioning by the police.

“He was not involved in any case and was therefore released,” said Khan.

Akhoon was detained by police from his home in Aarampora village of Awantipora tehsil of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Officials said that he was detained for questioning about his brother Salia Mohammad Akhoon, an active militant who was involved in recent bank robbery incident at Marhama Bijbehara.
