Four people were injured, one of them critically, when suspected militants fired at a police search party in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday, an official said.
The injured include two policemen and one inspector.
The official said that militants fired at the policemen who stopped the passenger vehicle they had boarded at Mirgund area today evening.
“After checking their papers and ID, cops asked the men to proceed towards the police station. However, the militants opened fire, injuring the policemen and the driver of the Tavera vehicle,” the official said.
The injured have been identified as SHO Pattan Mohammad Saleem, his PSO Dilshad Ahmad, Constable Mushtaq Ahmad and driver of the car Bilal Ahmad Gojri.
All the injured were shifted to 92 Base hospital for treatment where the condition of the SHO is stated to be critical.
The driver of the car was later on referred to JVC hospital in Bemina.
