Two persons, including a Sarpanch and a government official, were killed and seven others wounded in two blasts in summer capital Srinagar and south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Tuesday, police said.

A police official said that unknown attackers hurled the grenade when officials were meeting people in a government building in Badasgam village as part of ‘Back to Village programme’, killing two and injuring four others.

The blast took place hours after a mysterious blast outside the Sir Syed gate of Kashmir University, in which three persons were injured.

The official said the explosion was not caused by a grenade as suspected earlier. Preliminary investigation suggests that it was a low-intensity blast.
