Baramulla, Dec 12: A wave of grief and suspicion has swept through Arampora Sopore after the body of a local youth was recovered from Vijaypur in Jammu on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Khalid Sharief Bhat, who had gone missing for several days before being found dead under mysterious circumstances.
According to family members, Khalid left home for an outing around eight to ten days ago. The last communication they had with him was on December 8, when he told them he was at Jewel Chowk in Jammu. Since then, his mobile phone remained switched off, raising alarm within the family.
The sudden recovery of his body in Vijaypur has intensified their doubts. Relatives allege possible foul play and have appealed to authorities for a fair, transparent, and time-bound investigation into the cause of death.
“We just want to know what really happened to him. His sudden disappearance and the way his body was recovered raise many questions,” a family member told KNT.
Police officials confirmed they have taken cognizance of the case and begun an inquiry. A senior officer said that the exact circumstances surrounding Khalid’s death will be known only after the investigation progresses.
The incident has created shockwaves in Sopore, with locals also demanding clarity and urging authorities to ensure the family receives justice.
