Arms, Ammunition Recovered from Graveyard in Srinagar’s Natipora Area

Srinagar, Dec 16: Security forces on Tuesday recovered arms, ammunition and other incriminating material from a graveyard in the Tar Natipora area of Srinagar during a late-night search operation, officials said.

According to police sources, a joint team of security forces carried out the operation during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday in connection with an ongoing investigation linked to FIR No. 119/2025. The case has been registered at Bemina Police Station under Section 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

During the search, the team recovered one Chinese hand grenade, approximately 100 grams of gunpowder, ten live rounds of AK-47 ammunition and around twenty posters from the graveyard premises, the sources said.

Officials said the recovery was made in the presence of concerned authorities, following standard legal procedures. All seized items have been taken into custody and sent for further forensic and technical examination.

Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain the purpose behind concealing the arms and ammunition at the site and to identify those involved. Security has also been reviewed in the surrounding areas as a precautionary measure.
