Pakistan Navy Successfully Test-Fires Indigenous Anti-Ship Ballistic Missile

Karachi, Nov 26: The Pakistan Navy on Tuesday successfully conducted a test launch of an indigenously developed ship-launched anti-ship ballistic missile, marking a significant boost to the country’s growing maritime strike capabilities.

According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the missile was launched from a locally manufactured naval platform and is capable of hitting both sea and land targets with “high accuracy.” The military said the system is equipped with advanced guidance technology and enhanced manoeuvrability features, underscoring Pakistan’s expanding domestic missile development programme.

A Pakistan Navy spokesperson described the test as “a demonstration of the country’s technological progress and operational readiness,” adding that the new missile strengthens efforts to safeguard Pakistan’s maritime borders and strategic interests.

President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza and the Services Chiefs congratulated the scientists, engineers and naval personnel involved in the project.

The test comes months after heightened military tensions with India during May’s conflict. Pakistan has since accelerated modernisation of its missile arsenal. In September, the Pakistan Army tested its newly developed Fatah-4 cruise missile, which has a range of 750 km and is designed for low-altitude, terrain-hugging flight to evade missile defence systems. The ISPR said the Fatah-4 features advanced avionics and navigation systems to ensure high-precision strikes.
