Pulwama, Dec 1: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday intensified its probe into the recent Delhi blast by conducting coordinated raids at multiple locations in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, focusing on family members and close relatives of one of the key accused, Dr Muzamil Shakeel.
According to officials, NIA teams carried out searches at three locations across the district. The first raid took place at the accused’s family home in Koil village, followed by simultaneous operations at the residence of his brother-in-law Faizan Ahmad Sofi in Chandgam, and the house of his cousin Amir Ahmad Rather in Malangpora.
Witnesses said the central probe agency, assisted by local police, sealed the premises during the searches, restricting public movement and drawing widespread attention in the neighbourhoods. Each operation reportedly lasted several hours.
Sources told Kashmir News Trust that the NIA recovered electronic gadgets, mobile phones, digital storage devices, handwritten notes, and other documents from the three houses. These items have been taken for forensic and technical analysis to trace any possible communication links or financial transactions connected to the blast.
Officials confirmed that no arrests were made during Monday’s raids. They said the searches are part of a broader effort to identify potential support networks—operational, logistical, or financial—that may have assisted the accused.
Investigators are now analysing the seized digital data for leads that could shed light on the accused’s activities before and after the blast. More search operations are likely in the coming days as the agency continues to map individuals who may have been in touch with Dr Muzamil Shakeel.
