Srinagar, Oct 10: The body of a second missing Army commando was recovered on Friday from the dense Gadool forests of Kokernag in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, where an extensive search operation has been underway for the past four days, sources said.
According to sources, the recovery was made during intensified search efforts that included coordinated ground operations and aerial surveillance by Army helicopters and drones. The operation, spread across the steep and heavily forested terrain, has been described as one of the most challenging in recent times.
The recovery comes a day after the body of another elite paratrooper from the Army’s 7 Para (Special Forces) unit was retrieved from the same area. Both commandos had gone missing during an anti-terror operation launched earlier this week after security forces received credible intelligence about the presence of foreign terrorists in the region.
