Will Reopen Old Cases, Ensure No Jobs For Kin of Terrorists: J-K LG

Jammu, Dec 11: Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha on Thursday delivered a firm message on Jammu and Kashmir’s counter-terror policy, declaring that no authority “on earth” will ever be able to secure government jobs for the families of terrorists, while employment and justice will be prioritised for the victims of terrorism.

The LG made the remarks while handing over 41 appointment letters to the next of kin of terror victims from Jammu division. He emphasised that a decisive shift in policy has taken place, ensuring that benefits are reserved for those who suffered because of terrorism—not those who enabled it.

“Terror Victims Will Get Jobs, Terrorists Will Get Bullets”

Reiterating the administration’s uncompromising stance, Sinha said: “Terror victims will get justice and jobs, and terrorists will get bullets.”

Referring to data recently shared in Parliament, the LG highlighted the enormity of past suffering: 41,949 civilians were killed from the start of terrorism till 2019, he said, stressing that separatist networks and their ecosystem were responsible for these deaths.

“Justice will now reach the right people. The era when those connected to terrorism and separatism could get jobs is over. No power on earth can give jobs to the kin of terrorists,” he added.

Emotional Case Highlighted: A Family’s 20-Year Wait Ends

The LG recalled the case of Naseeb Singh, whose father Dharam Singh and four others were killed by terrorists in Rajouri’s Kotranka area in 2005.

“For two decades, the family lived in fear and misery. Today marks a new dawn of hope,” Sinha said, describing how decades of neglect left many families without closure or support.

Past Policies Enabled Terror Network: LG

Contrasting the present situation with the past, Sinha said earlier governments compromised for “temporary peace,” allowing individuals linked with terrorism or separatist groups to receive government employment.

“Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, that flawed system was dismantled,” he asserted.

Old Cases to Be Reopened, Guilty to Face Punishment

The LG also announced that older terror-related cases will be reopened, and action will be taken irrespective of the accused’s location.

“Whether the terrorists are on this side of the border or the other, they will face severe punishment,” Sinha said, adding that several old cases have already been revived.

More Appointment Letters Distributed

Along with the 41 kin of terror victims, the administration also issued:

  • 22 appointment letters under age-relaxation cases
  • 19 letters for wards of police martyrs under compassionate appointment and rehabilitation schemes

This distribution follows a similar event held earlier on July 28, when the LG handed over 94 appointment letters to families of terror victims in Jammu division.
